| AS THE WIND IS TURNING AND COMING FROM THE NORTH... | |||||

The temperature has been plummeting, this is good. The ICEHOTEL is back under construction. Meanwhile, new artists are flying in and their suites are not even built yet. Somehow, magically we are told, the ICEHOTEL always happens and opens, so be it! Everybody is chipping in, we work hard, play a lot, and have great food together.
The ICEHOTEL has a large fixed lodging facility. The cabins have a modern Swedish design and are very comfortable. The restaurant is quite large, with great chefs. Every day at noon and at 6pm we have great warm meals together with fish, game, reindeer, beef and every form of potato dish you can imagine. The entire artist crew gets together, jokes at the buffet, loads up the plates and sits together at big tables.
Our design is coming together. The suite called ‘Cyclic Vortex’ and represents life as an experience. On one wall we have the representation of the ‘Seed of Life’, which then passes via an imaginary centerline in the suite through a double helix wall built out of ice, that represents the ‘Birth of Life’. The next space, where the bed is located, represents the ‘Experience of Life’ itself, created with a vortex ice, circular motion that implodes into a lighted effect built of ice at the end wall. ‘The Implosion of Life into Rebirth’.
The
temperature is now -15F and expected to plummet to -35C in the coming days.
This really makes the ice ‘glue’ together. It is great to just hold two
pieces of ice together, throw some water over it, and ’clack’ it
connects, you can actually hear it. This makes building the design of our
suite much easier! Now that the
temperature drops drastically from the wind shift, and brings the frost from
the North Pole, you can hear the ice cracking in the
Our Arctic Gear provided by Livity, will be put to the test these coming days. Made from Hemp and Recycled Plastic Bottles for insulation, even here at the ICEHOTEL it is quite a novelty! So far it has been holing up good, but we will update you when the strong frost will hit.
